People screened to identify their risk for cancer

Ranchi, 31st January, 2023: On the occasion of World Cancer Day, observed on 4th February 2023, Ranchi Cancer Hospital and Research Centre is organising a Special Screening Camp at its premises in Kanke, Ranchi on 4th and 5th February 2023 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Free screening for oral, breast, and cervical cancers will be carried out at the camp.

People over the age of 30, those who have a family history of cancer, and those with any potential cancer symptoms can avail the benefit of these free screening services and get themselves checked at the Special Screening Camp.

Every year, more than 14 lakh new cases of cancer are detected in India. Most of these cases are detected at later stages, due to which over 65% of patients succumb to the illness.

Jharkhand has a cancer incidence of 65 people per 1,00,000 with oral, breast, cervical, stomach and leukemia being the five leading cancer types. Furthermore, in the state, around 70% of men and women lose their life to the illness.

More than 30% of these lives can be saved with regular screening as it can help detect the illness in its early stages, thereby making it possible to treat cancer and improve the chances of a positive outcome.
