RCHRC participates in JASICON 23, an informative gathering of the surgical community

Ranchi Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (RCHRC) participated in the 22nd Annual Conference of the Association of Surgeons of India Jharkhand Chapter, JASICON 2023.

A two-day event from 1st -3rd December 2023, the conference was held at the Gymkhana Club in Jhumritelaiya, Koderma. The event was attended by surgery postgraduate students and renowned surgeons from Jharkhand and across the country. In addition, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, and surgical equipment manufacturing companies were present as exhibitors.

The participation of 163 doctors and approximately 120 exhibitors from various locations within Jharkhand made this a hugely successful event. During the conference, Cancer Care Program, initiated and supported by the Tata Trusts, was showcased along with a deep insight into RCHRC’s holistic and affordable cancer care facilities. The RCHRC stall at the exhibition section attracted 42 doctors who showed keen interest in the technologically advanced cancer care facilities operated under the Tata Cancer Care Foundation and provided by the hospital.

RCHRC’s Dr (Col) Madan Mohan Pandey, the Medical Director, along with Dr Amitesh Anand, Surgical Oncologist, and Dr Manisha, Consultant Palliative Medicine, participated in the academic sessions of the conference. With Dr Pandey as the chair for the oncology sessions on the first day of the event, Dr Manisha spoke about the importance of palliative care for cancer patients and emphasised that palliative care is required throughout the disease continuum as it plays a crucial role in managing and improving the patient’s overall quality of life.

Dr Amitesh Anand spoke about rectal cancer on Day 1 of the event, and participated in a panel discussion on breast and gallbladder cancer on Day 2. The conference programme included live telecasts of operations and operative videos with interactive sessions, case presentations, guest lectures and panel discussions with renowned physicians, a surgical quiz, and concluded with a valedictory function. The event provided a platform for knowledge sharing and networking among the surgical community, while also highlighting the advancements in cancer care, including palliative care, that are being offered by RCHRC.
